Description
Derail Valley is a train simulation game set in an open-world environment spanning 256 km² of diverse landscapes, including mountains, lakes, forests, and towns. Players take on the role of a train engineer, delivering cargo between 15 industries and towns while managing various aspects of train operation. The game features a seamless day-night cycle, dynamic weather, and immersive environmental effects.
The simulation emphasizes realism, depicting the intricacies of diesel and steam locomotives through detailed sounds, physics, and interactions. Players engage in activities such as coupling, servicing, brake securing, and shunting. Deliveries are procedurally generated, creating varied and unique gameplay experiences. Career progression includes earning money, obtaining licenses, upgrading equipment, and managing costs, while a sandbox mode allows for freeform play and custom scenarios.
Six locomotive types with distinct characteristics are available, with additional options in development. The game supports mods, adding variety to vehicles and cargo. Challenges include derailments, collisions, and environmental hazards, all presented through realistic consequences.
